History in Cuba
Program Description

Explore historical and cultural legacies of Cuba’s experience of the Cold War. Visit key Havana sites, hear from local scholars of literature and the arts, and meet with a historian at the Bay of Pigs. Students will also be introduced to evidence of Soviet influence in Cuba, especially in architecture and popular culture.
**This program is being conducted under a General License for Educational Activities (31 CFR 515.565) under the Cuban Assets Control Regulations and is compliant with all rules of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Location Description

Havana, Cuba, with day trip to Matanzas province.
While licensed travel to Cuba has become easier in recent years, there are still no direct banking connections between Cuba and the United States. Students are advised to bring any cash they may need for personal expenses not included in the program cost (see below). For advice on attire and what to bring, please consult the faculty directors.

Students will stay in private homes (casas particulares) licensed to rent rooms to guests. Rooms include en suite bathrooms and will be either double (with two beds, for students of the same sex) or single, depending on availability.
