Program Description:

Stephany Feijoo Scholarship

About the Scholarship:

Stephany Feijoo created this $1000 Ignite scholarship to give back to the FIU community and honor of one of her most meaningful experiences at FIU, her international student exchange experience at KU Leuven in Leuven, Belgium. Stephany wants to help a current FIU student participate in our exchange program.

Stephany Feijoo in her own words:
From first-hand experience, I know the stress that comes along with the excitement of studying abroad, especially when it comes to budgeting and planning. With this grant, I hope to not only alleviate the financial burden of studying abroad, but to also grant students the possibility to take full advantage of what could be a life-changing experience. Take this chance to challenge yourself as you expand your horizons to understand and connect with the local culture. In this process, your ideals will be challenged, but it’s in that moment that you will realize that the world is much bigger than you thought it was. Take all these lessons learned as you return home a better person ready to inspire others.

The student who receives this Stephany Feijoo scholarship must have applied to the international student exchange program through the Office of Study Abroad and been accepted to the program.  The student must also be receiving the Pell grant at the time of his application to the exchange.

Application Process:

The eligible students interested in receiving the scholarship must answer the following three questions in an essay:
1.How will your international student exchange program help you reach your personal, academic and professional goals?
2.How would you use the $1,000 scholarship if you are fortunate enough to receive it?
3. How will you use your experience abroad to give back to your local community?
Please be as specific as possible and answer all three questions.
